6.29   Saratoga Americans 4    Mechanicville/Stillwater 5
The Saratoga American All-Stars took a tough loss Monday night, Saratoga had the lead 4-2 going into the bottom of the 6th and they let the game slip away.  Travis Rose from the Mechanicville All-Stars had the walk off hit.  Asa Connell pitched a strong 3 innings with 6 strikeouts for Saratoga  Max Liebers and Matt Davis hit home runs in the Saratoga loss.  Mechanicville was lead by a good pitching performance from Rose and homeruns by Mastropeitro and Buswell to help in the win.  Saratoga plays Glens Falls Wednesday at the East Side Rec field 6pm

6.28 Saratoga National- 2   Saratoga Americans- 0
In a rain shortened game the SALL 12's were defeated by the nationals. Behind an strong pitching performance from Trevor Francesconi who had 9 k's and a home run.  For the Americans Asa Connell pitched well and Frank Malvantano had a strong game behind the plate.

6.27 Saratoga Americans- 17  Hudson Falls- 1
The Americans scored 17 runs Sunday behind a strong offensive performance from Griffin Clancy who went 3 for 5 with two home runs.The big blasts came back to back in the second and third innings.  Chris Byno's bat was solid going 4 for 5 with 3 double and Max Liebers came up with two big catches in right field. The Americans ace Devin Towne pitched 4 strong innings with 8 strike outs and only one hit.  For Hudson Falls Jeff Stanattan hit the ball well and Brad Wood pitched solidly.


SALL 11's
Coaches- Bob Kolbe, Brian Coffey and Ross Beckwith

Roster- Quinn Beckwith, Brendan Coffey, Cam D'Aloia, Rory Flaherty, Liam Gibney, Steven Klimek, Joe Kolbe, Ryan Ruschak, Joe Schmidt, Connor Skeels, Spencer Wagner

6.28      SALL 11's- 17  North Colonie- 2
The SALL 11's started their post season with a solid 17-2 victory over North Colonie in 4 innings.  Quinn Beckwith gave up 1 hit and 1 run over the first 3 innings and Rory Flaherty came in for the final inning to close out the game.  Steven Klimek led the Americans witha  3 for 3 day, scoring 3 runs and posting 4 RBIs.  Rory Flaherty had a three run triple in the first as the 11s jumped out to a 7-0 lead.  Brendan Coffey and  Quinn Beckwith lined two hits each and Joe Schmidt delivered 2 RBIs.

6.29  Saratoga 9U -9   Queensbury -8
In the first game of the Cal Ripken season, Queensbury and Saratoga battled in an exciting see-saw game with five lead changes until Saratoga secured the 9-8 win on David Romano's game winning RBI in the bottom of the sixth. In the bottom half of that sixth, Saratoga was helped by two walks when Kevin Zihal came through with a game tying hit followed by Romano's game winner. Saratoga collected hits from Sean Wilkinson(2), Zihal(2), Romano(2), Jimmy Mcdonald (1), Brett Walsh(1) and Jack Cairns(1).  Kevin Zihal recorded 7 k's in three innings, while Danny Slieght added relief on the mound.

 6.28  Saratoga 9U -8-  N. Colonie -2-
Saratoga started the single elimination
round with a solid 8-2 victory over N. Colonie. They were lead by an outstanding pitching performance by Kieran Wurl who completed 6 innings with 7 k's and 1 walk. Saratoga's defense had his back with error free baseball. As for hitting, M. Triola (2 dbls, 3 rbi's), S. Wilkinson (triple, 2 rbi's), B. Scammell (2 hits, 2 rbi's), D. Romano (2 hits, 1 rbi). J Cairns and B. Walsh also added singles. This win puts Saratoga in the final four of the 10 team tournament.

6.28       Saratoga 9U- 5 Clifton Park-6
The two go at it again for the second time in this tournament with the winner moving on to the championship. Saratoga went up 1-0 on a single by D. Romano and an RBI double by M. Triola. They fell behind 4-1 and rallied to take a 5-4 lead with singles by Wurl and Cairns, two hit batsman and a clutch single by K. Zihal. Give credit to a tough CP team for having one more rally in them and escaping with a 6-5 win. Matt Triola went the distance for Saratoga with 5 k's and 1 walk.. D.Slieght, B. Walsh, S. Wilkinson also added singles. Saratoga will play in the consolation round on Tuesday.

6.27             Saratoga 9U -0   Clifton Park -10                           Saratoga 9U -2   Schuylerville -15
Saratoga had a tough day in the Queensbury Summer Slam dropping two games today. They finished the first round with 2 wins and 2 defeats. They now move on to the single elimination round on Sunday. In the first game they collected three hits as a team with singles by Triola, Walsh and Romano. Kevin Zihal and Danny Slieght worked hard trying to keep a tough Clifton Park team in check.
In the second game once again Saratoga could only put together 5 hits. D. Romano(2), K. Zihal(1),D. Slieght(1) and Jimmy Macdonald(1). M. Triola and D.Romano split time on the mound. Too many fielding errors in both games contributed to long innings for Saratoga.

6.26     Saratoga 9U -7    S.Glens Falls -5
In their second game of the Queensbury Summer Slam, Saratoga edged out SGF with a 7-5 victory. Saratoga was lead by Sean Wilkinson with three hits, Jack Cairns and David Romano added two. Saratoga also had singles by K. Wurl, K. Zihal and Brett Walsh. Pitching, Kieran Wurl went three, Kevin Zihal added middle relief and Matt Triola closed out the game. All three pitchers combined for 12 strikeouts.

6.25  Saratoga 9U - 15  Queensbury - 2
Saratoga's 9U All Star team kicked off their season with a 15-3 opening round victory over the host team Queensbury in the Queensbury Summer Slam. Saratoga as a team batted .421 tonight and were lead by D.Romano with two hits, N. Reynolds with a long double and K. Wurl with a down the line triple. Zihal, Triola, Wilkinson, Sleight, McDonald, Cairns, and Chudy all added singles. Kieran Wurl pitched three and David Romano finished up holding Queensbury to 5 hits and three runs total.


SALL 8's
Coaches- Gordon Hogben, Lewis Clarke and Derrick Wurl

Roster- Will Bonacio, Nate Chudy, Lewi Clarke, Evan Farr, Brad Hipsley, Gordon Hogben, Aidan Holmes, Chris James, Christian Kondo, Charlie Liebers, Peter O'Toole, Jonathan Preddice, Corey Wurl.

6.29  Wilton-12    SALL 8U-  2
Saratoga continued to get great pitching from Brad Hipsley, who pitched 2 scoreless innings and struck out the side in the second. Hipsley was also two for two with an RBI. Will Bonacio, And Aiden Holmes each had sharp line drives directly to second and short respectivly.

6.27   Clifton Park-12    SALL 8U-  8
After a few early inning jitters, the SALL 8s team settled in nicely, bringing the tying run to the plate in the bottom of the sixth inning, ultimately losing 12-9. Brad Hipsley had a strong two innings on the mound with 4 strikeouts, and went 3 for 4 with two stolen bases, and scored twice. Gordon Hogben was 4 for 4 with a double and 4 stolen bases, scoring three times. Good defensive plays were turned in by Nate Chudy and Chris James as well.

Just a fantastic All Star Season for the SALL teams.  In what is the best overall post season ever for league, the players accomplished the following:

12U- Cal Ripken State Semi Finals, Cal Ripken District Champions, Cooperstown All Star Village 7th place finish
11U- Cal Ripken State Tournament, Great Escape Runner up
10U- District 11 Champions and Section 2 victory vs. Carman
9U- Cal Ripken State Semi Finals, Cal Ripken District Champions, Great Escape Runner Up
8U- Cal Ripken State Runner Up

Wonderful job by all the teams and we look forward to continuing the tradition in 2009!
